Who We Are

Florida Greek Ambassadors (FGAs) are current members of the Greek community that serve to promote the core values of social fraternities and sororities at the University of Florida: scholarship, service, leadership, and community. They serve as a bridge between students who may be interested in joining organizations by providing information on the various councils, the recruitment process, and the benefits of Greek Life at UF. These dedicated students are continuously working with the UF community to further promote Greek Life and our values.

Purpose

Serve to promote the core values of social sororities and fraternities at the University of Florida
Create positive awareness of the Florida Greek Community through educating current members on relevant issues and community/university policies
Inform prospective students, non-affiliated students, parents, faculty/staff, and Gainesville community on the accurate benefits and contributions of sorority and fraternity life

Greek Life Consultations

Types of consultations

Council-Specific Interest: For students interested in a specific Greek council. (Interfraternity Council, Panhellenic Council, Multicultural Greek Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council). These consultations are led by an FGA that are affiliated with the Greek Council you are booking for.
Find Your Council Fit and General Q&A: For students who are interested in Greek Life but are not sure where to start. This consultation helps students learn about the four councils, compare different Greek Life experiences, ask general questions, and figure out which path may best align with their interests.

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

Maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
Be a current Active collegiate member (New Member or Initiated Member) in good standing with a recognized Social Sorority/Fraternity within the UF Interfraternity Council (IFC), Multicultural Greek Council (MGC), National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC), or Panhellenic Council (PC).
New members who have not yet been initiated are eligible to apply to FGA, but continued membership is contingent upon initiation into their respective Greek organization.

Step 1: Gather Application Documents
- Prepare an updated version of your resume.
- Submit your Written Responses through the Application Form.
  - Briefly explain why you would like to serve as a Florida Greek Ambassador and why you think you would be successful in this role. (200 words or less)
  - How has being in a fraternity/sorority impacted you so far and how do you plan on carrying this experience beyond your collegiate experience? (200 words or less)
  - How would you help create a welcoming experience for a student who is unfamiliar with Greek life? (200 words or less)
  - What ideas do you have or would like to see implemented to bridge the gap between the 4 Greek Councils? (200 words or less)
- If interested in becoming a Florida Greek Wellness Ambassador, you will complete additional written responses. The Florida Greek Wellness Ambassadors (FGWAs) is a sub-team of Florida Greek Ambassadors (FGAs) who are trained and responsible for delivering health & wellness presentations to the UF Greek community in addition to the minimum requirements/expectations for FGAs.
  - Why you would like to serve as a Florida Greek Wellness Ambassador and how would you be successful in this role? (200 words or less)
  - Pick a health-related topic or issue (ex. Alcohol and drugs, time/stress management, risk management, sleep, etc.) and describe 1) how it currently affects the Greek community and 2) how you would address this topic/issue as a Wellness Ambassador. (200 words or less)
Step 2: Submit the Application
- Submit your documents using the Application Form.
- Submission of a $5 application fee.
Step 3: Interview Invitation
- Applicants will be notified whether or not they are selected to schedule an interview.
Step 4: Application Decision
- Interviewed applicants will be notified of acceptance into the new cohort.
